It would be unusual to have a different voltage than 24 volts for any home with a heating system after 1980, so any they have would do.

I just replaced my 15 year old Honeywell programmable one yesterday after it finally bit the dust. Replaced it with another Honeywell (RTH6400D) programmable/digital one and it took all but 15 minutes at most to replace it. If you have wiring questions they do provide an 800 number to assist you in the conversion if necessary. Very straight forward in their included instructions. Purchased mine at Home Depot but if you don't need it in a hurry may find better prices on Amazon.com.

As long as you buy one specified for your type of system - not all thermostats are compatible with all system.

S0, if you look at the instructions that come with the thermostat in the box, and they say that you wire the thermostat a certain way for the wires you have on your thermostat at home, then it would most likely be compatible.

The thermostat packaging should specify if it will work on all systems or should list the systems for which the thermostat was designed.
