Another antique heater in restoration. Actually, a manufacturer must maintain parts for a model for seven years only. After that, all warrantees ran out, so the unit is totally the responsibility of the owner. Any installation of parts not supplied by the factory or their representative is done solely with the repairer as the engineer, so all liabilities are that of the repairperson (a major reason for selling a heating appliance division.). There are usually just a few parts to replace in ancient furnaces: The high/fan control, pilot or ignition, burner and/or motor, blower wheels and bearings. Most replacement parts are available at the local plumbing/heating supplier. If the exchanger goes, that is the end of it. Today, it really pays to replace the old unit with a new one.
