I've been remodeling my guest bathroom and needed to solder some copper pipes in order to fit my new pressure balancing valve for the shower. I cut off the main water by the street and got to work. All went well with the pipes but when I turned the water back on I wasn't getting any water flow through out the whole house. I must mention that 2-3 weeks prior I noticed the water wasn't flowing normally; it took close to an hour to fill up the bathtub. Does anyone have an idea on what might be causing the lack of water?

. . .....is the main valve a gate valve.....or a ball valve.....
and was it difficult to turn when you shut it off??
Just a shot, but I'd presume the handle has separated from the gate, and it's stuck in the "off" position....

Welcome to the forum!
If your water shutoff is a gate valve, it is almost certain that it is jammed closed. This is common. Gate valves have a round handle that screws the tapered valve "disk" into the valve body. If you can shut off the water at the meter, do that and open up the gate valve with a wrench and remove the tapered disk so you can get water until you make a permanent repair. The permanent repair is to replace the gate valve with a quarter turn ball valve. Expect that to be a soldering job.

Very common for a gate valve to break. It happened to me twice.

Maybe there was some blockage at the valve. Maybe the blockage moved and now completely shut off the flow. Are there any faucets, outdoor spigots, etc. that do have water flow?
