I tried swapping coils from 2 other saws (not sure if they were good)) and still no spark. The kill switch I have disconnected. Is there a bench test I can do on the coil to make sure if its bad?

To the best of my knowledge there's no sure way to check a coil. Did you try another plug? Were the coils and plug wires one piece. If not,did you try swapping wires? If the plug wire doesn't appear to be sealed to the coil, twist it gently counter-clockwise and see if it will turn out. There will be a threaded spike in the hole to thread the other onto. Chances are they're one piece though, but worth a look. If you have all kill options disconnected, and with a known good plug and possible switch of wires, and there is still no spark, there is only the coil(s) left.

It has to be the coil. I checked, on another saw, the connection between the kill switch tab and ground and I get some resistance and on the bad coil its a dead short. I'll have to break down and buy a new one.

I wonder if you could find a repair shop that has the part in stock and would be willing to test the unit with a new coil prior to actually buying it? When I worked at the local farm supply store as a small engine mechanic, we routinely did just that. If the coil was not bad, we felt that it was good customer relations not to sell a part that was not needed. We did charge a small bench check fee for that service.
