      #865383 - 02/04/10 08:53 PM

I was in the supermarket picking up some bread...no...not cuz of the storm...this was 2 days ago..

But i saw they already had tulips and hyacinths...already blooming! How long would these last indoors if they are already blooming?

It's called "Forcing Bulbs", and a way to change their timetable. They will last as long as outside, given a cooler place.

The Gal behind the Service Desk at our Grocery Store always gets a laugh out of me, because I walk right up to the flower display and sniff the hyacinths and tulips. (she knows I'm a gardener and getting a "fix")

Like Darlene said, they do tend to last quite a long time as long as they're cared for. Seems the hyacinths last longer than the tulips.

Anddddd you can plant them outside this Spring. They should come up next year.

I may take a trip to the grocery store today, just to smell the flowers

So because they were forced, they would still only last however many weeks they normally would? ...they wouldn't last until the ones that are planted outside come and go?

Yep... All forcing does is change their timetable for seasonal blooming.
