Sam was one of the greatest... And a very modest man!! He'll be missed!

Went to the Orange County Fair Friday night and they had an exhibit in the Woodworking Area of some of Maloof's work. There was a rocker, a tall bureau (Camilla's Bureau) and some other things, also lots of info on him. Never thought I'd see any of his stuff in real life. Such beauty and workmanship. Just amazing.

the one at the fair was darker stained, but same style. it was gorgeous. couldn't touch it, but i could see it was going to be so smooth and "soft" to that touch (burnished). dang, it was inches from me too.

How much did they ask for it?

no no, roped off and signs everywhere saying not to touch. i did not touch, but i breathed heavily on it as i got as close to it as i could to see the joinery. a local told me that he comes down and teaches a class at our local University. I didn't know that. not for me tho. his class would be for those that are really into woodworking, not for a know nothing like me.
