Happiness is a new tool!!!

My back hurts so bad now I can't write!!! But you guys know how I must be bouncing off the walls happy - no wonder my back hurts. The person who sold this to me is a real ace! He spent two hours with me going over the saw, making a sled with me and showing me how to do things. A real straight arrow! AND he gave me a 45 Degree sled he'd made for this saw. I thought it would be something small. Like I would make:
AND he took my old saw!!! He was able to almost run down the stairs with that one! I think his tool bag was heavier.
You can't imagine how much better this saw is! You can. It's so much safer too!! The table top is bigger, the miter gauge is to die for and with the sleds... God is so good!!
Karen I'm afraid if I get comfortable on my couch, I'll never get up!!! Good Grief!

Just to clarify...I did NOT know how big this saw actually was! How this guy brought it all the way up here is amazing!!! I can't even budge it. That part - and the size of the stand - I was really surprised. DUH. I've never seen one like this. My neighbor (Frankie Baby!) has a contractor/bench saw that he and my landlord use. It's one he puts in his van. I thought it was about that size. But then...I've never tried LIFTING it! You people make it seem so easy! I'm like a fly compared to my new saw.
BECAUSE it's such a big saw, I'm really motivated to build a real bench. Small enough to fit - but one I can use for clamping. LAUGH ALREADY!!! I don't cook much. I can always eat in the living room. I can clear it for cookies - twice a year. Question though...where do I put my wood when I'm assembling it? Details. Details. Details. Now I'm storing it under my bed and under the kitchen "table" (which folds up to be 1' wide and stores 4 chairs inside!!!)
You have to admit...it's a hundred times safer too. AND THE MITER GUAGE SLOTS are standard!! The feather boards I got earlier fit and anyway I use them, I still have extra table space!
Cab is here!!

I'm really happy for you. I have a set of dado blades you can have if you'd care to PM me your address. Then you can really crank out the sawdust!

You see that sled? He told me he made it for when he made frames. I shoulda asked "Door or picture?" That is one heavy SOB! Yesterday, this person won a $250,000 contract for a "rip & roof" job for a historic building in downtown Manhattan. I have a feeling it wasn't for picture frames. But ya never know!
Be that as it may, I cut a few pieces yesterday. Just ripped a couple sticks. I'm not sure why, but the wood is kicking back each time. Does this sound like I'm pressing to hard against the fence? I'm so afraid of it flying up at me, that I'm trying to make sure it is against the fence and that I'm keeping it down. I used a feather board to hold the wood in - I can't remember how to set up the fence to hold the wood down.
I can make runners for my own sled with this saw! With standard slots, the sticks I cut earlier work! I think a lot of things will be easier. Heck...I'm already making sticks!!!

Sometimes I have trouble with the wood 'hopping' so I raise the blade a little. That way, when the tooth hits the wood it has a tendency to push the wood down toward the table.
