split nut flange
      #842445 - 09/29/09 11:57 AM

in replacing my tiny might spa recirc pump I overtightened the flange nut and cracked it, has anybody used the split nut flange with success?
The trouble is finding it locally, no one seems to understand and shipping is 9 bucks for the little part. Thanks

Yes..it works......

DON'T overtighten...(but you know that)....just compress o-ring.....
and some lubrication on the threads works wonders......

If your local pool place doesn't have a split nut in his catalog,
you're stuck with the shipping..........
...but compared to replacing the whole union......Hmmmmm

Well to put an end to this thread, i found that the fitting is very specific to "waterway" fittings and would need that exact flange, no one in my area had one and my local hot tub store told me to cut the flange perpendicular with a hand saw and then heat it with a heat gun and slowly peel back old fitting and replace with a new one, never did it before and thought it was "BS" but i'll be darned it sure did work.
