Effective Use of Round-Up
      #837904 - 08/28/09 11:08 AM

1. Is it significantly more effective to cut tall (6" and higher) vegetation before spraying with Round-Up?

2. If tall vegetation is sprayed with Round-Up, how long should be waited before cutting it to be sure that it has enough time to be effective?

Well, the instructions are on the label, but longer leaves have more surface area for the systemic chemical to be absorbed. Since it is systemic, a day or two should be long enough to wait. I've seen curling and wilting in a few hours on grass and weeds.

I'm trying to get rid of a 70 foot by 30 foot garden. I've used roundup on weeds that were about "knee high". It does kill them, and my mower can barely cut it down. I need to plow it so the dirt can be levelled and let the grass and weeds grow and be maintained.
Based on my usage 6 inch high weeds, etc. should be no problem.

I notice that it takes 3-4 days for me to notice a big difference between thriving and dead.
