Hi all, I just recently purchased a Tall Sedum, no name tag on any of them. It's tall approx. 2 ft right now and looks like it will be a dark rose in color, that's why i bought it. anyway, on the leaves there seems to be some sort of infestation, scaling, i'm not sure what it is. There are brown spots on most of the leaves but out of all of them at the garden center, this one looked the best. The spots look somewhat weblike but it's hard and dry. I've never heard or seen sedum with any kind of leaf problem, any ideas? I don't want to plant it near anything else incase it could spread. thanks for whatever information you can throw my way....

Yeah, kinda surprising as Sedum are pretty darned hardy. Sounds like you picked up some Autumn Joy. I checked the "big book" and the only reference I could find which made sense was a condition in cactus (they're kinda related) The treatment was to give it more light and less humidity. This also makes sense as I'm guessing whoever was watering the plants probably overwatered the sedum.
I'd plant it!!! Wouldn't hurt to maybe give it a dose of plant food, just to make sure it isn't any sort of deficiency and maybe some squirts of dishsoap and water or a sprinkling of Sevin if you have it on hand in case it is a bug. May as well cover all the bases!

thanks, I knew someone would give me something to go on...I don't think it's Autumn Joy, way too tall and the color is alot darker. I looked for a tag when i bought it but none had anything in their pots, guess it's pot luck, lol...again, thanks for the advice, as far as humidity, in my area it's really gotten bad so i guess the plant will just have to do what it's gotta go to survive.
