Where Did the Sun Go?
      #826767 - 07/02/09 01:38 PM

For four days now it has been overcast and cold. Garden has more or less stopped! Highs about 60 with no sun doesn't do much for corn and tomatoes!

Same here in Western Pa. Besides the cool temperatures we have had 3+ inches of rain in the last 3 days.

Living in a tourist trap, the first week of July, lousy weather is expected! But gaddddd, my house is clean, sewing projects are done, errands are done, I'm ready to play outside!!!

Well if the weather improves in either of your 2 locations post back. Ours is usually a day or two behind.

Gaaakkk! It's been cold, gray and rainy here too... Garden keeps growing and I figure it will kick when the sun comes out.

I have blooms on everything, dozens of green cherry maters, several hot Italian Roasters, and one baby zucchini.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!

SNOW!?!!! Watch your mouth!

Yep! SNOW! Shortly after this photo was taken, as we headed a bit further west, we got "caught". It was a bit entertaining...

Of course this photo was taken WELL ABOVE the tree line, but the snow "squall" (which you can see down in the valley center left) was waiting for us down in the forest...

I don't know..
but here in Southern California..
Well it's been playing hide and SEEK..
Being born in the month of September``
And a Virgo...
WELL. I really know is
`````` I enjoy the`` * virga *`` show we
````````have been having``` and the Suns Out
Right Now.. Nice and Bright..

* QUOTE....
Virga, which is spelled v-i-r-g-a,
is pretty common and you’ve probably seen it
but didn’t know it had a special name.
Mostly in the summer,
virga can be seen falling away
in streaks from the bottom of one
of those puffy gray and white cumulus clouds
on a crisp afternoon.
It looks like a torn drape or a curtain
hanging from the cloud,
but only down about halfway to the ground below. Sometimes the air thousands of feet above
the ground is moist enough to produce clouds
and rain at the same time that the air closer
to the ground is as dry as a bone.
So when rain falls in these conditions
it evaporates on its freefall to earth.
So virga is technically virgin precipitation
and its easy to spot its wispy form
seemingly hanging in the air
```` beneath its parent cloud```````
`````````` Beauty Full``

"VIRGA"...

Huh...

Wasn't that the name of one of the demons in Ghostbusters? The one that had his way with "poor" Ms. Weaver?
