just wondering....
i have a Delta Scroll saw SS350 that has never been used and it is about 3 years old i think. i am considering selling it but am not sure what to ask for it. i paid $200 for it at Lowe's and it has a steel stand. i think i can find the manual, but i don't know where it is right this moment. i am thinking about asking $150-130. would any of you guys pay that, or is that too much? again it is unused, just assembled. i might consider craigslist but i am a little concerned about just anyone coming by to see it and being able to see all my other valuable tools. i don't want anyone to case the place if you get my drift. thanks.

Between $100 and $130 seems reasonable.
At $150, I just assume buy brand new out of box, for another 50 bucks.
But I would check out prices as much as I could before making an offer.
If you feeling real generous, approach a local cub scout pack in your area, donations are always welcome...

Unfortunately even thought it's basically a brand new saw it still is considered used. The general rule of thumb for most used tools is that they sell for anywhere in the neighborhood of 50% on down from what it sold for when it was new. I have that exact same scroll saw and I paid $189 for mine so I would expect to get somewhere in the $90-$100 range for mine. Considering that the SS-350 has also been discontinued by Delta it probably will be harder to find a buyer willing to pay top dollar for one.
Maybe you should consider keeping it. The SS-350 IMO is an above average quality scroll saw and again IMO was a pretty good bargain for what it cost. I don't do very much scrolling with mine but use it more like a small band saw when I want to make intricate cuts that I might not feel comfortable making on my larger band saw.

to tell you the truth i don't really know how to use it. i have bigger saws that i usually use for big cuts but don't do small stuff. when you say you use it like a band saw....how big of work are you talking about? would figure something no thicker than an inch would be ok for such a small blade, no?
maybe i should look into how to use it before i part with it...
thanks

Get a nice piece of clear 3/4" pine and experiment. If nothing else, it's fun. Make a jigsaw puzzle.

Pretty much ¾"-1" thick stock is what I'm talking about. Anything thicker takes too long to cut so you loose the quickness/convenience factor.
I agree with DD, you should play around with your scroll saw a bit and maybe try a simple puzzle or two. Who knows, you may even find that you like making them.

thanks. i think i'll play with it a little and see how i like it. i guess it isn't really worth any more or less having been slightly used.
