That is so great!!! I've been wanting to try a folding table and although I haven't a chance yet to read the article - it's just what I wanted!
Thanks Chris! I appreciate all your work.

Hi, PLease excuse me I'm new around here and can't even work out where my question should go so if its in the wrong place I'm sorry.
With the Handyman wire building a bench shopping list the first item is 1. 3 8ft 5/4x6" I guess this means 3 pieces of 8ft 5 inches 4x6 or am I wrong?
The other thing I want to ask about is adapting the plans. I have just started to get a load of timber for free. It was being burnt before I started collecting it. The pieces are 100" of 3 1/2 x 1 1/2,30 inches of 3 1/2 x 1 1/2 but most is 92" of 3 6/8 x 6/8. I would like to use it to make benches and containers to grow flowers in and stuff like that. Do I just use these pieces instead of the shopping list and then check them out for strength? Any ideas of what else I can build simply as I want my special ed class next year to do a building project where they can sell what they7 make for money?
Many Thanks Paulz

Hi, paulz Stick around
You want to make the deckbench, right? The item is 3 pieces 8feet long, 5/4 thick by 6" wide. Lumber thickness is sometimes referred in quarters of an inch. 5/4 means 1 1/4 inches thick. That is not commonly found in retail lumber stores although decking and stair tread can come that thickness. Just use 2x6.
