I am doing some research on why my Azalea plants are shedding bark while new leaves are coming out at the same time. And came across an article stating that it is common for hollies to shed old leaves while growing new. I didn't remeber to keep the link. But that was the just of it.

I decided to return the 6 hollies that were losing their leaves. HD took them back with no problems. The more I thought about it and looked at them, the more I figured that they were on their last legs. I purchased 6 new ones from a local nursery and planted them. I checked out a couple of nurseries and none of their hollies had browning leaves or were losing their leaves. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Well that explains everything. You didn't state in your original post that you bought them at HD.
