I am amazed at how casual electricity is approached by some. I was reading "Swimming Pool electrical requirements" and "Grounding a pool" and "Wiring a pool heater". Good info was given on each post and still he states "I don't want to get lit up!". AMAZING. I guess it is because if you get "lit up" just once in a pool it will probably be the last time. I hope people pay attention. Just had to say it. Thanks

Over, and over, and over again, we suggest that people get professional help when dealing with wires. If they want to be fools and get dead, that is their choice. And you are correct, newbies working on wires around water can easily get "lit up", for the last time.

This was my argument when the last moderator was forced into exile. Among other things, he gave answers that were not easily understood if you didn't have a working knowledge of elecrticity. If you can't understand the answer, then stay away! Most think 120v is not much, but it only takes fractions of an amp to be deadly under the right circumstances. Shock hazards aside, fire is a major concern. Most don't realize the National Electrical Code is written by the NFPA...National Fire Protection Association.

and speaking of fractions of an amp being deadly....when I was in college had a dorm neighbor who was futzing with an experiment in his room with one of my buddies. Nothing big and hairy just a bunch of small batteries AA's etc..... while working with the metal framing of his box he received a small cut on his finger which was bleeding rather heavily....not wanting to stop he continued on his merry way until something went live and the battery amperage shot through his body via the blood from the cut and killed him. Doesn't seem like much to most....but after an investigation it was found he had a rather minor heart defect and the charge though small had interupted the functioning of his heart. Checkout the link below for info regarding electrical hazards to the body. It will hopefully change the way you look at electricity. Electrical damage
