According to the Dec 04 issue of Consumer Reports, the best rating went to the Makita MForce DK 1052DL (kit).

I just bought the Ridgid 4 pack...despite the ratings, basically, because it was one hell of a deal. I use to like Milwaukee, until they moved their operation to Mexico. They're back now. I never like B-D, ergo, nor DeWalt...I hate yellow too. I have many corded Porter Cable, and even an American made 14.4 cordless from 1997, which still runs...sorta. Now that I hear that B-D owns them....hmmm. I Have a couple Ridgid corded tools, and like them. Note: I think that EVERY cordless tool is now made in china. So, it's anybodies guess as to quality.
might as well go with color! Hitachi has a nice green!
