Yeah, kinda surprising as Sedum are pretty darned hardy. Sounds like you picked up some Autumn Joy. I checked the "big book" and the only reference I could find which made sense was a condition in cactus (they're kinda related) The treatment was to give it more light and less humidity. This also makes sense as I'm guessing whoever was watering the plants probably overwatered the sedum.

I'd plant it!!! Wouldn't hurt to maybe give it a dose of plant food, just to make sure it isn't any sort of deficiency and maybe some squirts of dishsoap and water or a sprinkling of Sevin if you have it on hand in case it is a bug. May as well cover all the bases!
