Applying a Clear Finish
|
 |
The
Basics:
The natural beauty is what makes exterior wood so appealing. The best way to showcase this rich, warm appearance is by applying a clear wood finish, like Flood CWF® or CWF-UV®. A clear wood finish will enhance the wood's beauty and protect it from the harsh effects of moisture and sun damage.
|
What You Need:
- CWF or CWF-UV Clear Wood Finish
- Tarps, dropcloths, wiping rags
- A brush, roller or airless sprayer
- Soap and water
|
 |
Doing
The Job:
- Be sure the wood is thoroughly clean and dry before applying any finish. For best results, use Dekswood.
- Cover any areas you will not be treating, such as plants, shrubs and bushes, with a tarp or dropcloth.
- Using a brush, roller, stain pad or an airless sprayer, apply one coat of the clear wood finish. Backbrush for better uniformity.
- Wipe up or brush out any puddles to avoid
shiny areas.
- Allow 24-48 hours drying time.
- Clean up all tools with soap and water.
|
Notes:
If wood is dry and absorbs the first coat quickly, apply a second coat while the wood is still wet from the first coat.
Allow new wood to weather for one year before using CWF or CWF-UV.
Remove any sealers, finishes or stains with PowerLift or StainStrip before applying CWF or CWF-UV.
